Schools and youth organizations from all over California have discovered what a fun and educational experience they can have by visiting the Agricultural Museum & AgVentures! Learning Center at Heritage Complex. We have something for everyone—tours are customized for every age level and educational background. Whether you want your students to see where food comes from, learn about Tulare County history, or hear about agriculture’s newest and most exciting careers…this is the place for you!

We are pleased to announce that AgVentures! is open at Heritage Complex! This eight-month renovation has transformed the Learning Center into a world-class interactive museum, on par with the best science centers found in Los Angeles or San Francisco! Take an interactive tour of a farm on board your very own tractor, or try your hand at milking a cow... there is nothing in California like it! AgVentures! is included with your paid admission to the Agricultural Museum and Learning Center and was specially designed with grades two-four in mind.

A typical field trip begins at 9:30 am. Prior to your visit, you'll receive a Field Trip Planning Guide to help prepare you and your students. Upon arrival, small groups will be created and students rotate through the facility's four activity zones: the historic Farm Equipment Museum to learn about pioneer life and food production at the turn of the century; the all new AgVentures!, where a variety of fun, interactive exhibits await; the Theatre to watch one of our feature films; and the Food Lab, where sudents will create personalized trail mix while learning about nutrition and food production. By 11:30 a.m., groups are finished with their tour and led to our outdoor Arbor, where the kids can enjoy their fresh trail mix. Groups are encouraged to bring lunch.

The Agricultural Museum & Learning Center is located inside Heritage Complex, 4500 South Laspina Street in Tulare. Cost for admission is just $3 per student. One adult chaperone per ten students (including teachers) are admitted free, additional adults in attendance are just $3 each. We can only accommodate three classrooms per visit, so please plan accordingly.

We invite you to stop by and see for yourself what we have to offer. The Agricultural Museum and Learning Center are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Here's how to book an AgVentures! for your students:

  • STEP 1 is to fill out the enclosed Reservation Form (10kb) for each trip (three classrooms per trip). Be sure to indicate your first, second, and third choices for dates - tours are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
