Sit down and relax in the AgVentures! Learning Center movie theatre and enjoy our current film, “Down on the Dairy.” Listen as Darla the dairy cow fills you in about life on the dairy with some help from her friend Collin, who works on the dairy. A day on the dairy starts early in the morning, before the sun is even up! First, the cows are milked on a large carousel that can milk 72 cows at a time.
Next, they eat a healthy breakfast prepared by a nutritionist. The rest of their day is full of different activities, including a visit from the vet and a hoof trimming. You also get a glimpse into the life of a calf. Meanwhile, the milk gets stored in a tank where it is kept cold until it gets transferred into a milk truck. It is then taken to a processing plant where it is made into several kinds of milk with different fat percentages. Some of the milk is made into many other products like yogurt, cheese, ice cream and butter.
There sure is a lot that happens down on the dairy!
